Becoming official partners of the SSF Hub

In November 2023, the Hub became an official partner of the Small-Scale Fisheries Resource & Collaboration Hub (“SSF Hub”), which is a platform, community and a set of supporting initiatives fosters learning, information sharing and capacity enhancement to the benefit of the community, and accelerates the implementation of the SSF Guidelines (the Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and Poverty Eradication).

The partnership had already started informally in 2022, as part of the Hub engagements around the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture and the protection of small-scale fishers’ human rights. The Hub has been participating in regular meetings with the SSF Hub partners, sharing research, approaches and resources to support the following vision:

“Small-scale fisheries and communities that are resilient, thriving and implementing the Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and Poverty Eradication (SSF Guidelines).

Currently, the Hub is coordinate with the SSF Hub in the preparations for the second Small-Scale Fisheries Summit 2024, expected to be held in June 2024 at the headquarters of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and contributing content to the SSF Hub platform.
