“Good ocean governance is not just a legal issue”, Elisa Morgera, Hub Director says.
Elisa Morgera, Director of the Hub has been quoted in the newly released Ocean Race Summit Report. Morgera took part in the Summit in June 2021, and, according to the report ‘explained that the development of an “interconnected” governance structure was important to support the co-production of ocean knowledge through access to research for natural scientists, social scientists, artists and indigenous communities. Good ocean governance, Morgera argued, is not just a legal issue; she encouraged everyone interested to contribute to a negotiation currently taking place at the United Nations for the creation of an “imaginative, powerful and innovative” new international instrument to protect marine biodiversity.
