SAFER LAB has been selected to host the eleventh World Recreational Fisheries Conference

The Southern African Fisheries Ecology Research (SAFER) Lab, a working group under the leadership of Hub researcher, Prof. Warren Potts (Department of Ichthyology and Fisheries Science, Rhodes University, South Africa) has been awarded the rights to host the next World Recreational Fisheries Conference (WRFC) in 2026.

“This is the first time this global conference will be hosted in Africa, and we welcome this opportunity. We hope the conference can elevate the profile of recreational fisheries in South Africa and highlight the need for a strong recreational fisheries governance in Africa” Prof Potts says.

The WRFC is the largest international recreational fisheries conference attracting fisheries experts, researchers, policymakers, industry and anglers from around the globe.
